Giraffe Pictures is a critically acclaimed film and TV company based in Singapore with a vision to discover and support emerging filmmakers across Asia, taking bold visual narratives to a global audience.

Founded in 2014 by Cannes Caméra d’Or winner Anthony Chen and media personality Huang Wenhong, the team behind award-winning ILO ILO, Giraffe Pictures has produced a prolific slate of award-winning projects for the past decade.

Our films have earned prestigious recognition worldwide, including two Cannes awards, five official Cannes selections, five Golden Horse Awards, sixteen Golden Horse nominations, and five Oscar submissions.

With deep roots in Southeast and East Asia, we have filmed in diverse locations across continents, not only within Asia, such as Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, and China, but also across Europe.

ANTHONY CHEN

Director | Producer

Anthony Chen is an award-winning writer, director, and producer from Singapore. He became the first Singaporean to win at Cannes with his 2007 short film AH MA. His debut feature ILO ILO (2013) won the Caméra d’Or and over 40 international awards, including four Golden Horse Awards. His second film WET SEASON (2019) was nominated for the Platform Prize at Toronto and, like ILO ILO, was Singapore’s official Oscar submission.
Chen’s English-language debut DRIFT (2023), starring Cynthia Erivo, premiered at Sundance. His first Chinese-language film THE BREAKING ICE premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes the same year. His upcoming film WE ARE ALL STRANGERS, the final part of his Singapore “Growing Up” trilogy, is set for 2026.
Through his Singapore-based outfit Giraffe Pictures, Chen also produces films including Kirsten Tan’s Sundance winner POP AYE (2017), He Shuming’s AJOOMMA (2022) which premiered in competition at Busan, and Sorayos Prapapan’s ARNOLD IS A MODEL STUDENT (2022), which competed at Locarno. Recent works include Neo Sora’s HAPPYEND (2024) which premiered in Orrizonti at Venice, Tumpal Tampubolon’s CROCODILE TEARS (2024) which premiered at Toronto, and Mouly Surya’s THIS CITY IS A BATTLEFIELD (2025), the closing film for the Rotterdam International Film Festival.

HUANG WENHONG

Producer

A well-known radio and media personality in Singapore, Huang Wenhong has accumulated 20 years of experience in television, radio, web, and print. Over the years, he has hosted some of the most successful morning shows.
Wenhong was an associate producer on the Cannes Caméra d'Or-winning debut feature ILO ILO. Following ILO ILO’s success, he co-founded Giraffe Pictures with Anthony Chen in 2014 to support new voices in Asia.

GINA TAN

Producer

Gina Tan is a Singapore-based producer working across independent cinema, international co-productions, and commercial content in Asia. She graduated from Chapman University Singapore with a major in Creative Producing. 
Gina began her career as an Assistant Director on productions across Asia—experiences that shaped her collaborative, cross-cultural approach to filmmaking. Her producing credits include RISE, streaming on Netflix, and THE DRUM, which competed at the 2017 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.
As a director, her crowd-funded short PENCIL, inspired by true events, won Best Film and Best Screenplay at the NYFA Singapore Awards. While at Chapman, her documentary TRANSIT won the Cecil Awards and screened at the Singapore International Film Festival.
A fellow of the Rotterdam Producer's Lab and the Busan Asian Film School (AFiS), she served as President of the New Asian Producers Network (NAPNet) in 2024. She was line producer on Anthony Chen's upcoming feature WE ARE ALL STRANGERS.

Teoh Yi Peng

Business Affairs

Yi Peng is an alumnus of Brown University and has previous experience in the institutional investment management and technology industry.
He is based in Hong Kong and oversees Giraffe Pictures’ operational strategy, business affairs, finance, and business development activities.
